160ML... and still going
as usual i woke up in the middle of the night to express milk.
to be quite honest, i've gotten quite lazy and skip the midnight expressing session cuz Stevlynn now skips her midnight feed
i must find some persistence in maintaining a 'routine' for when i go back to work.
Ideally i would like to express every 3 hourly ( to match her feeding times) or worst case scenario, every 4 hourly.
(so basically i'll be a walking self-milking cow as long as i intend to fully BF her)
Okay, back to my 3:30AM expressing session. SS recently bought me the via cups adaptors for my pump cuz i am using Via Cups for storage; making it less tedious for me to express milk at night. Just pop on the adaptor and Via cup to express & screw on the lid after i'm done. No more transferring of milk from bottles to cups - thus saving 2 steps and more importantly, minimizing bacteria transfer/contamination :)
Before i start expressing i would usually 'feel' before deciding if i want to express 1 side or both (though i usually end up expressing only 1 side) and would express for about 10 mins per side (so 20 mins if both). Tonight i decided to express slightly longer(going on now for 16 mins) and here am i, at 160ML and still going. Scary~ i never knew i had so much milk at night (i wonder how much can i get during the day as people say milk supply is usually more abundant in the day)
Stevlynn decided to only drink 30ML for her 3:30AM feed today, i bet she'll wake up again.
And who does her early morning feed whilst i express? SS! Or at least till our help arrives~
She would be exactly 7 weeks old today! Time flies and i begin to understand her cues and cries more as each day passes.
Anything new she's learnt? YES of course! We kiss her so often and before we kiss her, we tell her we are going to kiss her that now when we put her to our cheeks and say 'Stevlynn kiss kiss' she will either mimic the kissing sound when her lips touch her cheek or open her lips slightly! And she does that consistently despite us telling her 'Stevlynn kiss kiss' on different occasions to different people :) - That or we could just simply be thinking too much.
There are occasions whereby she becomes 'cranky' during milk feeds and would want to be put to the breast shortly after her letting go by herself and resulting in her vomiting milk out (she overfeeding herself). Previously i would fret at why and assume that she's hungry. Now i've LEARNT that she's just grouchy for her sleep and wants to be hugged and coo-ed to sleep. She would usually fall asleep pretty quickly once being hugged & coo-ed to sleep, in the next minute or so.
