Lil WaterMelon Naming
Baby naming is always nerve wrecking to parents; or at least in my opinion for you get to decide over a name that would be with another person for the rest of his/her life. So SS and i went book naming hunting and internet naming hunting, and SS who hates reading books, for once didn't fall asleep whilst reading through the numerous names and meanings.
But you know all parents-to-be are picky and fickle minded mostly; we ended up changing what we wanted for our girl every other day. and given our criteria for our girl's name which in my opinion wasn't the most difficult task in the world..
Let's see...
1. Either start with 'A' or 'S'
2. Easy to pronounce and the name won't be teased by others when she's in school (take for example, Skyler is a nice name with a NICE meaning as well, but people might make fun or mispronounce as 'Sky - LAH' and look up in the sky whilst saying it)
and out of the blue one day in the car with my youngest sister, she want 'Steffilyn' which quite fit our criteria but not so, just didnt sound very right to us.
So one sunday when we wanted to go to IKEA to see cupboards for our lil girl's room, in the car we took out post-it pads and started scribbling...

and VIOLA, we decided on Stevlynn (pronounced as Stef-lynn)
a plus point is that it has an added meaning of the combination of SS's name (Steven) and myself (Adelynn)
as for the name's meaning, we decided to take on (since it's a created name and can not be found on any baby naming book or on the internet pages) for it to take on Steven's meaning and Lynn's meaning.
There you have it, we are presenting to you, our lil watermelon's name... STEVLYNN
Lil One's Got a NickName
You know how the chinese saying goes 'if you are carrying a boy the tummy would be pointed and if you are carrying a girl, the tummy would be rounded'?
Well we're having a girl (in case you haven't known it by now) and boy oh boy, my tummy is ROUND
ROUND like a watermelon is what my mummy says, and so does everybody around me.
and somehow, watermelon seemed to have stuck with our lil one, and we ended up with the nickname 'watermelon' not the most glam nick name though :p
Shopping for the Lil WaterMelon
You know how sometimes parents are, wanting the best for their children and maybe some 'satisfaction' of what they want for their kids, they end up shopping like shopaholics. Well i think SS's one of those parents. and the things he buys and the $ he spends on our watermelon... Unimaginable! But i'm happy and he's happy and i bet Stevlynn's happy too (with all the pretty things who won't be, haha or she may not even learn how to appreciate it)
But i think we're almost done or DONE! Time to move on to washing and packing and organizing for the lil girl and just wait for her arrival!
Stevlynn's Own Nursery
We had initially wanted to clear a corner of our room to make space for the lil one, but her doting grandparents decided that she deserves an entire room to herself and is going to clear out either the attic (which is our current room) or the gym room to be her OWN nursery. Grandfather decided that the lil grand-daughter would get the attic and kick the parents downstairs to the gym room, which will be converted to our room. (Plus point is we get an attached toilet! *Yippee*) and Stevlynn gets a bigger room!
But now the pain comes... We need to clear out the existing stuff in the gym room; all the gym equipment, sauna, cupboards and stuff... and lazy I (or SS) will then need to bring our stuff down, and giving us a chance to throw out whatever stuffed away nonsense i have been hoarding in the room (wahah, who knowss i might find treasures), and then move into the newly converted room and then prepare for Stevlynn's room!
Sounds like alot of work huh? I'm tired just listening to the work i'll need to do (well not exactly me since i am heavily pregnant now, so i might get to squirm my way out of it :p) But even if i had to do it myself, i would cuz it's all for our darling girl and i want her room to be comfortable for her :D
How lucky she is, to have an entire attic as her nursery and play room!
